Read More About Shophouse Trok Krai

At Wat Chakrawat Pier area called "Trok Krai" currently, old shophouse complexes with Western architectural influence still appear, popular after road construction in Bangkok during Rama IV-V. These shophouses were built after road connecting from Ratchawong Road to this area during Rama V. In the past Wat Chakrawat Pier played role as pier for transporting local goods from provinces: forest products, dried goods like betel nuts, wet tamarind, etc. Later when water transportation declined, no cargo boats arrived here. Wat Chakrawat Pier no longer used for transport, became cargo truck parking area instead.
