Important commercial community area at Khlong Ong Ang mouth in the past

Soi Phirom is located in Chakkrawat Subdistrict, Samphanthawong District. During Rama V reign, the riverside area in Soi Phirom near Wat Bophit Phimuk was the residence of Phraya Phirom Phakdi (Boonrawd Sreshthaputra), founder of Boon Rawd Brewery Company Limited, known as 'Singha Beer'. Because he was an important person in this area, Phraya Phirom Phakdi's name was used to name the alley and community near his residence. Phirom Phakdi community is likely an old community with continuous residence for over 100 years. With the area along Chao Phraya River and not far from Khlong Ong Ang mouth which was an important commercial area since early Rattanakosin era. Although currently most of Phirom community is residential, traces of old shops and interesting traditional occupations of community people still remain, such as mackerel boiling occupation.
